  5. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PRAISE, SACRIFICE OF PRAISE AND WORSHIP.

  7. (A)  SACRIFICE OF PRAISE.  This is praise offered up to the Lord
  8.      when all feelings are negative.  When one has to order,
  9.      command himself to praise the Lord.  He ignores his
  10.      circumstances and praises in the midst of great testing or
  11.      tribulation.  It costs something to praise, it is a
  12.      SACRIFICE.

  14.      PRAISE "to bless", "glorify", "to speak well of", "to boast". 
  15.      This is giving praise when feelings are positive, the Lord is
  16.      blessing and it is easy to praise the Lord.  We really feel
  17.      like it, it is not a sacrifice.

  19. (C)  WORSHIP "to make obeisance, to bow self down, do reverence
  20.      to, feeling of awe".  Worship is the highest realm of praise
  21.      which involves the whole man, Body, Soul and Spirit bowing in
  22.      reverence and awe of His presence.

  24. The whole man is conscious of God's divine presence and worships
  25. in praise to the Lord.  It comes from the whole man.
  26.  
  27. He stands in the presence of the Lord in awe and reverence.  This
  28. is the highest form of praise.
  29.  
  30. 1.   PRAISE LEADS INTO WORSHIP.
  31.  
  32.      This worship should be our goal.  The Lord is seeking such to
  33.      worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.  John 4:24.
  34.      Often people come into a service tensed up, in conflict,
  35.      turmoil and are unable to enter into deep worship
  36.      immediately.  They need to sense God's presence to lift their
  37.      burdens, giving a release in the Spirit.
  38.  
  39.      SINGING OF CHORUSES AND HYMNS often clears the atmosphere and
  40.      prepares the people to enter into praise or stirs them into
  41.      offering the Sacrifice of Praise.
  42.      PRAISE allows God's presence to come down and begin to free
  43.      and liberate His people from their bandages and prepare them
  44.      to enter into deeper realms of Worship.
  45.      WORSHIP - every part of man is touched by His presence as he
  46.      stands in awe worshipping the Lord.  In this atmosphere the
  47.      stranger, sinner and backslider senses the strong drawing
  48.      power of the Holy Spirit as at no other time.

  50. 2.   WORSHIP BRINGS US INTO THE THRONE.  Rev. 4:10-11.
  51.  
  52.      The Elders standing around the Throne worshipped Him. 
  53.      Worship elevates us into the very Throne of God, where we bow
  54.      in reverence and awe of God.  We are conscious of being in
  55.      His actual presence.
  56.  
  57.      At times we become aware of our imperfections and cry out
  58.      "woe is  me"
  59.      as Isaiah cried out when he stood in God's presence.  Isa. 6.

  61. 3.   ANGELS JOIN IN WORSHIP.  Rev. 7:11.

  63.      There have been times when praise has led a congregation into
  64.      deep worship until the heavenly choir was heard singing with
  65.      them.  The angels joined in worship, and the blending of
  66.      voices in perfect harmony was out of this world.

  68.      Visitors have been translated into the throne of His presence
  69.      as they have heard the heavenly harmony in worship, and
  70.      mistaken it for a large trained choir.

  72. 4.   WORSHIP IN THE 7TH MONTH DURING RESTORATION.  Neh. 8:6.

  74.      At the time of the restoration of the Temple, all the people
  75.      gathered together as one man before the water gate upon the
  76.      1st day of the 7th month.  Neh. 8:1-2.

  78.      This was the Feast of Trumpets.  Today the trumpet message is
  79.      gathering the people together as one man.
  80.  
  81.      Great emphasis was placed on the word, just as today, and the
  82.      Word was opened, v.5, - it produced worship.
  83.  
  84.      This is the hour of restoration, the opening of the Word, the
  85.      time of the Feast of Trumpets, when people will enter into a
  86.      deep worship in Spirit and in Truth, which will elevate them
  87.      into the very Throne of God.

  89. 5.   JOB WORSHIPPED WHEN HE WAS SEVERELY TESTED.  Job 1:20.
  90.  
  91.      The "crucible" (place of suffering, dealings of God, testing)
  92.      puts depth into our christian experience and brings us into
  93.      the depth of worship which the Father is looking for.  It is
  94.      hard for a shallow christian who has not experienced the
  95.      dealings of God in some measure, to enter into deep worship. 
  96.      He may praise the Lord but only in a weak, shallow way.  The
  97.      dealings of God in our life produce a deep intimate love
  98.      relationship and expression of our love in worship to Him.

  100. 6.   WORSHIP AT THE DEDICATION OF THE TEMPLE. 2 Chron.7:3.

  102.      On the Day of Atonement when the 120 trumpeters sounded (the
  103.      end of all flesh), they entered into worship.  When God's
  104.      presence subdues all fleshly activities, we can enter into 
  105.      deep worship.
  106.  
  107.      The presence of God which comes down in Praise often subdues
  108.      man and makes him conscious of His presence so he can enter
  109.      into worship.

  111. 7.   JOSHUA WORSHIPS AT THE REVELATION OF THE CAPTAIN.  Jos. 5:14.
  112.  
  113.      Jesus the captain in battle reveals Himself to Joshua and
  114.      caused him to enter into worship.  The revelation of Jesus to
  115.      His people together with the dealings of God will bring us
  116.      into deep worship.
